    In every organization, whether large or small, you can always find a group of employees who will readily admit to having a horrible boss within their work environment. The phenomenon of a horrible manager is not new, and of course, the concept of a “horrible boss” is not a valid scientific term; however, it does align with the profile of a manager or supervisor that has a negative personality or characteristics, such Machiavellian or narcissistic.

    For this task, you will examine the negative side of leadership. Imagine that you have been asked to deliver a lecture for senior college students majoring in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. Prepare your lecture as a PowerPoint presentation with audio, voice-over. Create a PowerPoint presentation that addresses the following topics:

    • Define the differences between a leader and a manager.
    • Describe what is meant by the negative side of leadership, destructive leadership, and abusive supervision.
    • Determine how and why “horrible bosses” are successful.
    • Delineate the characteristics (e.g., personality, behavioral) of “horrible bosses.”
    • Detail situational factors leading to the rise of “horrible bosses.”
    • Recommend solutions for enhancing the leadership skills of “horrible bosses.”

    Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as speaker notes for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists.

    References: Support your presentation with at least three scholarly resources for each of the bullet points listed above. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources may be included.

    Length: 12-15 slides, not including title and reference slides

    Notes Length: 200-350 words for each slide

    Be sure to include citations for quotations and paraphrases with references in APA format and style where appropriate. Save the file as PPT with the correct course code information.

    • This hypothetical study will aim to determine if a coin you are flipping is biased in some way. If the coin is fair, you would expect that when you flip it ten times, there should be no significant difference in the number of heads that appear relative to the number of tails.
    • The independent variable in this study is the flipping of the coin, and the dependent variable is the number of times a head or a tail appears.
    • The data will be frequency counts, which are continuous data.
    • The research question would be: Is there a significant difference in the number of heads and tails that occur when a coin is flipped ten times?
    • The test you would use would be a sign test. A sign test is a nonparametric test for very small samples of data.

    Review the library’s help with searching, and then locate five published articles that have used case studies as the research method in one or more areas you are interested in researching. All five examples can be from the same area of interest (e.g., bullying in classrooms), or from five different areas you are considering for further research.

    After locating your articles, report on each study as noted below:

    • Report the full reference in APA style
    • Interpret the aim of each study.
    • Explain the focus of the case in each case study.
    • Explain the method of collecting data (e.g., face-to-face interview, focus group).
    • Report the sample size.
    • Explain why the authors chose to use the case study approach. If the authors did not justify their use of the case study approach, offer your reasons for the authors’ selected method.
    • Conclude with any new or unexpected findings from each study. If the authors did not report this directly, what do you think the new or unexpected information was? It is acceptable to indicate that you did not believe a study added anything new but  but be sure to justify your arguments.

    Support your assignment with your five selected resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including seminal articles, may be included.
