Assignment #1 (One-tailed-t test)
Mr. Hong was a teacher at South City San Francisco Elementary School for Science Level 8 of 25 students. After he received the SAT 10 scores from last year in January this year, he wanted to make a comparison with all Level 8 Students in South City San Francisco to see if his class scored significantly different from all level 8 students. He found out that the average score of all level 8 students on the Science test was 224.0 out of 300 questions. Accordingly, Mr. Pele’s class raw scores are as follow: 120, 230, 240, 150, 280, 290, 300, 280, 240, 150, 160, 170, 180, 200, 250, 230, 260, 250, 280, 255, 260, 220, 250, 255, 280. (Use your Graph Pad software to calculate all your statistics)
- What is the Mean score for Mr. Hong’s class?
- What is the Standard Deviation?
- Formulate your null hypothesis (nondirectional) (Three nulls)
- Formulate alternative hypothesis (directional (Three alternatives)
- Follow the seven major steps for testing the Null hypothesis and describe Each accordingly.
- Present your inferential statistics in Tables using APA format (Don’t forget to report all of the necessary statistics exactly the way in which the tables are shown, based on Mr. Hong’s class data.
- Don’t forget to use df= n-1 instead of regular n for calculation of t value.
- Report your Results in Apa Style and Format.
Assignment #2: (Comparing the two means of two Independent groups using Two-tailed-t test.
Given the test scores of Mr. Hong’s wife, Sarai, who taught 24, level 8 students at Puna Elem. School. Mr. Hong wanted to see if the average score on Sarai’s class was significantly different than his. The bottom line was, he truly wanted to see if his class performed better than or worse than his wife. Sarai’s level 8 raw scores are as follow: (122, 230, 242, 152, 280, 290, 280, 245, 152, 160, 165, 175, 190, 245, 230, 270, 255, 260, 220, 250, 255, 278, 220, 225). Use Graph Pad software to do all of your calculations.
- Calculate Sarai’’s class Mean
- Calculate the standard deviation
- Formulate the null hypothesis
- Formulate the alternative hypothesis
- Follow the seven major steps for testing the Null hypothesis and describe Each accordingly.
- Present your inferential statistics in tables using APA format (Don’t forget to report all of the necessary statistics exactly the way in which the table are shown, using the couple’s class results.
- Don’t forget to use df= n-2 since you are comparing two separate Independent Groups, using the Two-tailed Independent t test.
- Report your Results in APA Style and format. (This assignment is worth 90 points).
