It’s Morning in America.

After reading the assigned textbook chapters, please watch Ronald Reagan’s 1984 presidential campaign advertisement, “It’s Morning in America.”  In a 500-word MLA style essay, compare Reagan’s hopeful views of the country with the 1983 congressional testimony from AIDS patients and a 1981 interview with a man battling drug addiction.  What is the significance of these three sources and what do they reveal about US society in the 1980s? How can you explain Reagan’s “Morning in America” optimism given the stark realities of the AIDS crisis and the crack epidemic?
