3.Briefly explain how the modern state of Lebanon evolved out of territory occupied by the French after World War I. What balance of power evolved and how well did it work?
4.Define the term religiopolitics, and briefly discuss how it relates to contemporary Islamic revivalism.
5.What are the three patterns of modern nation building in the Muslim world? Include in your answer examples of all three.

Your answers to the Questions should be between 500 words for each question.

2.Discuss the development of the Arab-Israeli conflict over Palestine focusing on the period from the late nineteenth century until the creation of Israel in 1948.
