Part 1: Workbook on Indigenous Contemporary Issues
The Workbook is a take home assessment item. Students will be required to provide responses to each question in relation to the Unit topics. This task is to assess how you understand the topic and your ability to concisely communicate your perceptions of its theme/s. The questions require short answer responses with a minimum of 200 words and maximum of 300 words per question.

1. Should Section 51 of the Australian Constitution be changed and why?
2. Provide a definition of ‘Indigeneity’ which includes the diversity of Indigenous Australian peoples.
3. Cultural Heritage contains which two themes defined by the United Nations? Explain their importance to saving cultural heritage.
4. Select one major mining site presented in the lecture. What is its impact on the Aboriginal traditional owners?
5. Concisely explain the importance of teaching traditional Aboriginal languages to Indigenous youth today.
