Mini paper: Obesity among elderly adults
$20.00Obesity among elderly adults
The topic of your paper is anything you would like to write about. Make sure that your topic is about healthcare issues related to the elderly population. I have a few emails that are asking for more clarification. Im not sure what I can do to add to the clarification. I have left the topic open so you are free to choose. I thought that would be more enjoyable for all.
Also, here are the directions from the syllabus:
Over the course of the semester, you are required to write four (4) mini-papers.
Your mini-papers are another method of reflective writing. These papers may touch on areas of interest you wish to reflect on further; the mini-paper is an opportunity to do just that.
Your mini-papers will need to follow these guidelines:
- • At least 4 full pages in length plus reference page. Do not include a cover page. Points will be deducted for papers that do not follow the page length requirement.
- • You are free to choose the healthcare topic that you like. BUT, you must relate that subject to the elder population within your paper.
- • Your paper needs to be your original work. It should be on a topic that you originate and complete the research on. Along with this, your paper needs to be an individual effort. Plagiarism is unethical, unacceptable, and will result in a failing grade for this course.
- • Please explain the issue using sources and facts, and provide a thorough explanation of how you feel about it (your opinion). If you use sources beyond your own opinion, these sources (including the text) should be referenced appropriately within your response and a list of references should be supplied at the end of your document.
- • Papers will be submitted to the appropriate Dropbox by the assigned deadline as an attachment. (Please make sure your paper can be opened by Microsoft word. I have seen a growing number of papers submitted that are in a .lnk format and I cannot open them. If you are using a Mac make sure that the file converts correctly). If you do not submit it to the correct location, or you submit it after the deadline, you will not receive credit. If I cannot open the file due to your file formatting mistake your paper will not be graded and you will receive no credit.
- • Mini-papers should be spell checked, grammar checked, and proofread prior to submitting to the appropriate Dropbox. Read your paper out loud; this will help you catch any mistakes that are overlooked by the other methods (missing words, wrong words, etc)

MBTI as a Predictor of Student Success and Retention
$7.00MBTI as a Predictor of Student Success and Retention
Using the same dissertation, The Use of Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) as a Predictor of Student Success and Retention in a Community College Recording Studio Techniques Course (Van Regenmorter, 2004) as a basis of your analysis, compare the results and conclusions sections of the article Personality, Self-esteem predictors of happiness and depression among High School Student in Iran by Malekiha, Abedi and Baghban. Do the conclusions logically “grow” from the results of this study? What about the recommendations for future research; do you believe these are viable? Can you suggest any more?

“Interdisciplinary” ethics committee – Lymphoma Case Study
$10.00Think like an “interdisciplinary” ethics committee. Chapter 10 contains information on Ethics Committees.
Review the case below and adopt 2-3 roles (below) and develop a response to this case. The perspective of each role you choose may look different. For example, a CEO will respond differently than a physician than will a nurse.
Case for review:
Jimmy is an 11-year old boy who suffers from lymphoma. His oncologist has indicated that without chemotherapy, he is likely to die within 6 months. She has also indicated that in most cases, chemotherapy provides an effective cure in only 20 percent of cases like Jimmy’s; in most cases, chemotherapy produces at best an additional 3-6 month extension of life.
Jimmy is also compromised by an incurable neurological disease. This disease will eventually make it impossible for him to walk, talk or use his hands effectively. Already, he speech is slurred and he cannot hold a pencil. Even without lymphoma, the prognosis– because of the neurological disease– is death by the age of 18.
Jimmy has been raised in a strong religious environment, and his belief in God has been an important comforting factor to him. After having the facts fully explained to him, he has accepted his situation and the inevitability of his death at a young age. He says he does not want the chemotherapy and that he is ready to “go to God.” His parents, however, cannot reconcile themselves to losing Jimmy. They want to override his decision/proceed with chemotherapy.
Adopt 2-3 of these roles and develop a response to the case. Include specific perspectives for each role you adopt:
– Administrator/CEO
– Physician
– Nurse
– Oncologist
– Social Worker
– Psychologist
– Clergy/Chaplain
– Community member
– Lawyer
– Ethicist
– Health Services Administration/Health Professions Undergraduate Student
